The Tenant by Freida McFadden
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
This was my first Freida book, and honestly? It was a gentle, sneaky introduction to her brand of “oh you thought this was normal? adorable.” I walked in expecting mild domestic drama. Maybe a little romance. A little tension. Some awkward roommate vibes.
Instead, I got a slow-burn descent into “am I going insane?” energy that crept up on me until suddenly I was sitting here questioning every character’s sanity, including my own for enjoying it.

The twists? That perfect mix of “I saw that coming” and “WAIT, I did NOT see THAT coming.”
The characters? Psychotic in the quiet, simmering way that makes you keep reading just to see who’s going to snap first.
And the ending? And the ENDING’S ending?? Absolutely deranged. Absolutely perfect. Freida stood over my shoulder whispering “chef’s kiss” while my remaining brain cell malfunctioned.
And look… the cheating man.
He was the spark that set his whole life on fire.
So like yes, eff him, garbage behavior, but also ma’am… why did you take it that far?
It was intoxicating watching everything spiral because he couldn’t keep it in his pants.
Should ALL of these people have made better life choices?
YES. Absolutely yes.
Did that stop me from inhaling the whole thing in one sitting like my Kindle was a life-support machine?
Of course not.
Because the vibes were elite.
Slow-burn paranoia.
Quiet “who is actually doing this” dread.
A woman who absolutely needs therapy but also… ya get what ya give.
A new girl waltzing in without a single clue what tornado she just rented a room from.
And an ending that slapped me across the face and then bowed.
I was horrified. I was obsessed. I was giggling while my sanity packed its bags.
Five stars because I have no standards, only vibes, and this book fed me chaos like a treat.
xoxo
