Chasing the Wild by Elliott H. Rose

This book waltzed into my life with boots, attitude, and the exact flavor of forbidden tension that turns my brain into warm pudding. The buildup between these two is ridiculous in the best possible way. Slow. Charged. Loaded with that delicious forbidden you should not want this energy. And the atmosphere around them is pure cinematic ache. I swear I could hear cicadas and feel the heat every time they looked at each other like they were five minutes from disaster.

Oh and the trope. The trope.
The very casual detail that he is the heroine’s ex boyfriend’s dad. The age gap. The absolute kitschy soap opera perfection of it all. I am not saying it is morally sound. I am saying it was delicious. Do not think too hard. Just let the vibes wash over you like cowboy holy water.

Then this book hit me with:

• a tortured soul cowboy who talks like sin in slow motion
• a heroine fighting for her life against her own attraction and losing beautifully
• tension so thick it could lift a truck
• every kind of forbidden ache layered into every look
• wilderness proximity that should be illegal

Yes, he is older.
Yes, he is off limits in seventeen different ways.
Yes, the chemistry could set a barn on fire.

And then there is the smut.
The quiet cowboy transforms into a dirty talking menace the moment the door closes. Zero hesitation. Zero shame. Full verbal devastation. The kind of man who barely says two words in daylight and then turns bedtime into a spiritual awakening. And let me be very clear. Once they give in halfway through the book they never stop. It is spice on spice purely for the sake of spice and did I mind?.. absolutely not. I cheered. I hydrated. I accepted my fate.

If you ever wondered what it is like when a broody rancher decides you are the center of his universe, this book will educate you thoroughly.

Chaotic energy checklist:

• forbidden with a capital F
• ex boyfriend’s dad excellence
• age gap danger that tastes like honey
• quiet cowboy in public and absolutely not quiet in bed
• worship energy mixed with filth in equal measure
• a second half that becomes a full throttle rodeo of pure heat

This book is tropey in all the perfect ways and unhinged in all the fun ones and the smut could raise the dead. Five stars because this cowboy kink has me in a chokehold and I am not seeking help.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
